Biography

Dr Anita Barmettler joined UL in 2014, where she teaches German language, history, literature and current affairs of German-speaking countries with a focus on the Swiss perspective. She is also involved in the teaching of European Film and the Master for Education.
Anita worked as a primary school teacher for several years before deciding to change her field and study Cultural Studies at the University of Lucerne, Switzerland. After completing her B.A. and M.A. she wrote her Ph.D. on the three Kindertransport poets Karen Gershon, Gerda Mayer and Lotte Kramer.
Her research interests include Jewish literature, transcultural literature and cinema, intercultural communication, and language teaching through literature and innovative language teaching pedagogy. .
