Biography

I am responsible for providing academic leadership in blended and online learning (BL/OL), and for leading the development of the Learning Analytics policy. Since 2006, I have informed and supported the adoption of centrally supported educational technologies, delivered CPD offerings in the area of BL/OL, and collaborated in multiple teaching innovation projects involving TEL. I have led innovation and research projects funded by the National Forum around digital capacity and open educational practice (OEP). I have also represented UL in a number of its advisory boards and served as institutional representative in other National Forum projects. Currently I am working on the national delivery of the National Forum open course ‘Getting started with online teaching’ and leading the course for facilitators. At international level, I currently lead a work package in an Erasmus+ project in OEP and have recently served as country expert in TEL for the European Commission Centre for European Policy Studies. I contribute to the scholarship of T&L through dissemination in peer reviewed high impact sources. I am module leader for Blended Learning (TL5101) and Technology Enhanced Learning: Theory and Practice (TL5112), delivered in the GradDip in T&L, and I was course director for the programme (2014-17). I also teach at undergraduate level in UL, and in an online masters for the National Open University of Spain (UNED). 

Research Interests

Outreach Activities

  Description

Erasmus+ project ‘SHaring Open educational practices Using Technology For Higher Education’ (SHOUT4HE)

Served as country expert for a research project led by the European Commission Centre for European Policy Studies which will create a “digital learning readiness” index for each member state of the EU.

Teaching Interests

Within the Graduate Diploma and Masters in Teaching, Learning and Scholarship at the CTL; I have led the modules ‘Technology Enhanced Learning’ and ‘Blended Learning’ for the last eight years. I also co-lead ‘Social and civic engagement’ (as part of the Broadening the Curriculum strategy), ‘E-moderation in online environments’ (in collaboration with the KBS and Graduate Studies/CPE), and the course 'Getting Started with Online Teaching' (National Forum open course). 

I have also participated in Erasmus + teaching mobility as part of this, I have led a distance module on digital identity at UNED for their online master’s degree for career counsellors
