Biography

   
Elaine Vaughan lectures in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics and TESOL at the University of Limerick.
Her published work focuses on Irish English; corpus pragmatics; workplace discourse and communities of practice; the pragmatics of humour and laughter; and the use of corpora and corpus-based methodologies for intra-varietal, pragmatic and sociolinguistic research. She is a member of the Centre for Applied Language Studies (CALS) and the Inter-Varietal Applied Corpus Studies (IVACS) network.

She is co-editor, with Carolina Amador-Moreno and Kevin McCafferty, of Pragmatic Markers in Irish English
(2015, John Benjamins); and with Raymond Hickey of the special issue of the journal World Englishes on Irish English (2017).
