Biography

Dr Ian Clancy is a Lecturer and Course Director of the Physics (Common Entry) programme at the Department of Physics, University of Limerick. 

Ian has a BSc in Applied Physics from the University of Limerick and a PhD in the area of computational statistical physics studying the dynamic phase transition in a model of an earthquake fault. Ian has a wide range of research interests including dynamic phase transitions in complex systems, modelling of certain electrochemical processes, and physics education.

Ian currently teaches modules on Mechanics, Thermal Physics, Modern Physics, and Computational Physics.


Research Interests

Statistical physics; computational physics; nonlinear dynamical systems; phase transitions and criticality; complexity.
