Electronic and Computer Engineer, specialising in embedded systems development and digital design and testing.

16 years industrial experience on electronic and embedded systems design
15 years academic experience, researching and teaching embedded systems design, digital systems design and test and computer architecture.                      

Research Interests

Design, development and testing and debugging of embedded system, with particular emphasis on debugging and verification of real-time systems.

Test engineering, with emphasis on SoC test and low power scan testing.

Autumn Embedded Software ET4047This module familiarises students with the architecture and programming of embedded systems and microcontrollers. The emphasis is on gaining practical programming skills, using embedded C and the Arduino hardware platform.
Autumn Computer Systems Architecture 2 ET4253This module introduces students to advanced processor architectures and processing concepts, such as RISC, pipelining, and superscalar instruction execution, and their limitations leading to an understanding of the need for as well as multicore architectures. Students will understand the architecture of modern motherboards, internal buses, modern external interfaces, and interactions between application software, BIOS and device drivers.
Spring Test Engineering 2 EE6632The module introduces to modern semiconductor integrated circuit (IC) test methods, including design for testability (DfT), scan techniques and built-in self-test (BIST) for digital ICs. The module concentrates on IC and SoC designs.
Spring Digital Systems 4 ED5502This module familiarises students with the architecture and programming of embedded systems using Arduino or similar platforms. Students learn to program microcontrolers in the C language and to interface their microcontrollers to motors, sensors, communications ports and other real world external interfaces and systems.
