Biography

Sarah Gibbons is an Educational Developer in the area of Student Engagement and Success.
Sarah's primary interest areas are
- early transition to third level; 
- the importance of academic literacy for third level students;
- the benefit of academic advising for undergraduate retention and progression;
- the use of learning analytics for student progression; 
- StudentSurvey.ie data and institutional uses;
- collation and use of student opinion on learning experiences e.g. National Student Engagement Programme (NStEP). 

Sarah is undertaking a PhD in the area of student engagement, specifically looking at the learning expectations between academic teaching staff and first year undergraduate students. 
Sarah has completed a Graduate Diploma in Third Level Learning and Teaching with the Technological University Dublin (formerly DIT) and holds a Fellowship with SEDA (Staff and Educational Development Association).

Sarah is a founding member of the Student Engagement and Success (SES) Unit within UL, a collaborative virtual unit between the Centre for Teaching and Learning, Student Affairs Division and the Glucksman Library. 

Sarah previously worked as a senior policy advisor across three State departments in Melbourne, Australia.
