Biography

Dr Íde O’Sullivan is a Senior Educational Developer at the Centre for Transformative Learning, where she is Curriculum Development Support Lead. In this role of Curriculum Development Support, Íde will lead on the development of a curriculum development framework for UL in close collaboration with the Associate Vice President Academic Quality and Regulations, Associate Vice President Student Engagement and the Associate Deans Academic Affairs and Graduate & Professional Studies. Íde teaches Curriculum Design on and leads three scholarship modules on the Graduate Diploma in Teaching, Learning and Scholarship in Higher Education. She also works with academic staff on the development of their professional writing for publication.

From 2007 to 2019, Íde co-directed the Regional Writing Centre where she led the design, delivery and evaluation of writing-support interventions at UL, grounding writing centre initiatives in good practice and sound theory. She is a founding member and co-chair of the Irish Network for the Enhancement of Writing (INEW). She is the elected chair of the executive committee of the Educational Developers in Ireland Network (EDIN) and a Senior Fellow of the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA).

Her current research focuses on curriculum design, professional development of academic staff, writing transfer, institutional work of writing centres, and adapting academic writing development to particular national contexts. Other areas of interest include writing pedagogy, writerly identity, writing assessment, second language acquisition research and the development of new literacies.
