The Inclusive Education Framework
is a new interactive tool to
be used by schools to assist schools plan, measure and improve how
pupils with special educational needs are supported. This resource will
help re-affirm good inclusive practices already in place in many schools
and will guide other schools to develop good practice. Hard copies of
the Inclusive Education Framework will be issued to schools through the
SENO network.
The NCSE published its Inclusive Education Framework: A guide for schools on the inclusion of pupils with special educational needs in late 2011. A UCC research team (Paul Conway, Jessica Amberson & Dan O'Sullivan) were contracted by the NCSE to research, review and contribute to the overall design and development of the framework. Drafts were reviewed by the an advisory group (i.e. PDST, SDPI, NEPS, NCSE, DES, SESS, Inspectorate, DES & UCC). The UCC research team undertook an evaluation of a pilot of the framework in Spring 2010 (Conway, Amberson & O'Sullivan 2010).
