Second
Language Acquisition and Materials Development
There seems to be a considerable mismatch
between what SLA researchers and theorists claim facilitates language
acquisition and what materials developers actually do in practice to help
students to learn languages. We will discuss together why this is the case and
we will look at ways of ensuring that research results are more accessible and
applicable to practitioners. We will also focus on research findings which
appear to be valid and important and consider ways in which materials
developers could make greater use of them.
