Hurling, an Irish national sport, was experienced through the cultural studies curriculum model with participants learning basic skills, rules, history of the sport, Gaelic phrases and Irish geography. Discussion revolved around the cultural significance of the sport internationally and its transferability to other invasion games. This was a fun, practical session which demonstrated how to design a class focused on both physical activity and international cultures in a safe environment.
