An entry for the Spanish Dictionary of National Biography for don Luis Ponce de León (1608-1668). He was the younger brother of the duke of Arcos, and of the queen's camarera mayor, doña Elvira Ponce de León, marchioness of Villanueva de Valdueza. Don Luis Ponce served Philip IV of Spain as courtier, soldier, and governor-general of Milan between 1662 and 1668.
