This article examines provisions in the criminal justice process to accommodate victims of crime through the lens of the organisation and purpose of the adversarial criminal justice system. This will include a consideration of the concept of and justification for legal rights for victims and to what extent, if any, victims should have participation rights. The analysis will contribute to the ongoing discourse pertaining to accommodations for victims of crime in the criminal justice process.
