The Spaces between Us exhibition held at the University of Limerick explores concealed pregnancy, concealment of birth and the emotionally fraught subject of infanticide. With the support of Patricia Moriarty and Yvonne Davis, The Spaces Between Us Exhibition will run at the Bourn Vincent Gallery from Dec 6th 2018-Feb 19th 2019. The exhibition, curated by Dr Amanda Gardiner draws on her research which explores women’s experiences of infanticide in colonial Western Australia. The exhibition presents a unique opportunity to witness and understand the complexity of the lives of these historically marginalised women which has so much in common with women in Ireland who have experienced concealed pregnancy under a veil of shame, silence and secrecy. The project has immense resonance with the history of Irish women and the great changes that Irish culture is currently experiencing particularly around the rights of women and children.
