Building on recommendations made by the CoFPI in 2018, the Policing, Security and Community Safety Bill 2023 will provide the statutory framework for policing and security services through improving oversight and enhancing internal governance of AGS and the role of the Garda Commissioner as CEO. The Bill is central to the implementation of the Programme for Government: Our Shared Future policing reform plan, A Policing Service for Our Future, that is designed to implement the recommendations of the 2018 Report. The Bill encompasses other reports including the Department of Justice Effectiveness and Renewal Group reports, Disclosures Tribunal reports, Policing Authority reports, and reports of the Garda Síochána Inspectorate.
