Biography

Dr. Purtill is a lecturer in statistics in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Limerick. Her current research interests include statistical profiling in population health research, design and analysis of randomised control trials, meta analyses and validity and reliability analysis of diagnostic tests. Dr. Purtill is a member of the Health Research Institute and is actively involved in interdisciplinary research with collaborators in Clinical Therapies, Graduate Entry Medical School, Physical Education Sport Science, Business and Engineering & Science. She also collaborates on industry projects through the Mathematics Consortium for Science and Industry (MACSI) and with particular interest in data analytics applied to the Irish SME business sector.


Research Interests

Dr. Purtill's current research area is statistical profiling in longitudinal population studies such as Growing Up in Ireland (GUI) and The Irish LongituDinal Study of Aging (TILDA). She also has considerable research experience in the design and analysis of randomised control trials, meta-analyses, validity and reliability studies, power calculations and sample sizing for clinical and observational studies.
